Contract Ratified!

Dear member,

Our new contract has now been ratified! GSOC members voted YES by a 99% majority to ratify the contract (1103 in favor, 11 against). We couldn’t have done this without all of you and a strong united strike.

What does this mean for you?

Review the agreement here. Our new contract will be retroactive from fall 2020, so if you have worked a union position at any point during or after fall 2020, you should receive back pay and retroactive benefits, including service bonus and dependent healthcare support fund. We will push NYU to make payments as soon as possible! Here’s how it will work:

1) We announce to NYU that we have ratified the tentative agreement.

2) NYU sends us a proposal of how they will issue back pay, including how they calculate each worker’s pay. GSOC will review these calculations to make sure everyone gets what they deserve. This process may take a while since every worker’s situation is different.

3) After we review the calculations, we reach a mutual agreement with NYU and they will start issuing backpay. You should be able to receive back pay even if you have already graduated. More details to come and we will keep you updated on the timeline.
