GSOC/UAW NLRB Hearing Update

We’ve now had a total of three days of hearing at the NLRB. We have been presenting our case and putting evidence on the record, which is intended to demonstrate that graduate students employed as researchers, grad assistants, and teachers are employees and that we have the right to a union of our own choosing! And, as predicted, NYU’s million-dollar army of attorneys is doing everything they can to block and obstruct our effort to establish a compelling case, most recently by delaying the release of crucial information that shows the true nature of our responsibilities as graduate employees.

Despite the administration’s usual chicanery, the hearing is set to proceed after Thanksgiving break. Our next hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 2nd at the National Labor Relations Board. NLRB hearings are open to the public, and all are welcome to come downtown to witness the University attempt to deny us our rights! The location of the NLRB is:

26 Federal Plaza, Room 3614 (36th floor) New York, NY 10278-0104

As we await the outcome of the hearings, we must continue to organize and build our membership as we prepare for an election this spring!
