Text of One-Time Gross Payment Grievance

We write to file a Step 3 grievance with you as the Provost’s designee per Article XX, Section C of our contract. […] We are grieving the University’s failure to implement the one-time gross payments provided for in Article XVII, Section C of the contract in a timely fashion. Today was the last day for disbursal provided by the sixty (60) day window which began after UAW notified NYU of the executed CBA’s ratification, but you have already indicated payments will not be complete for at least another month. Graduate workers need and deserve this money now. Many of our most vulnerable members worked for at least two years at the unacceptable rate of $10/hour at NYU Polytechnic Institute, an injustice which these one-time gross payments sought in part to address. The current delay of these reparations is unconscionable. We request immediate disbursal of these payments.
