Notice of Nomination and Elections + BDS Referendum

2016 election season is upon us and not just the presidential primaries. We hope that you’ll be interested in helping us build and steer the union by running for the following positions:

Assembly of Stewards
(20 vacancies in total within specified districts)

Local 2110 Joint Council
(8 positions bargaining unit-wide).

A technical description of how to nominate yourself and others is available below. We’ve also written up brief descriptions of what it’s like being a steward and a joint council delegate in case you’re wondering what you’re getting into here. Feel free to reach out to current stewards as well if you have any questions/want to chat.

Nominations are hereby declared open to fill vacancies in the GSOC-UAW Local 2110 Assembly of Stewards as follows:

GSAS Humanities and Social Sciences District – 2 vacancies (out of 8 total positions)
GSAS Sciences, Technology, and Math District – 3 vacancies (out of 5 total positions)
Tandon School of Engineering District – 9 vacancies (out of 9 total positions)
Professional Schools District (including Steinhardt, Stern, Wagner, Social Work, Tisch) – 6 vacancies (out of 8 total positions)

All members eligible to work in the bargaining unit in the districts listed above who are not already stewards are automatically nominated to fill the position of steward in their district. Any member who wishes to accept the nomination for the position of steward must indicate their intention in writing by submitting a signed acceptance by hand delivery, fax, electronic scan or photo specifying which steward district above to: Election Committee, Local 2110 UAW, 256 W. 38th Street, Ste. 704, Fax #: 212.228.0198, Email: local2110@2110uaw.org TO BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 3 PM, APRIL 15, 2016. The nominator is required to notify the member(s) they nominated so that the nominee(s) will be aware of the nomination and the option to accept such nomination as described above. If a member is nominated and the nominator fails to notify the nominee, such failure will not invalidate or excuse the member’s responsibility to accept such nomination within the established acceptance deadline outlined in the paragraph above.
