The UAW is a sponsor of this international day of action in solidarity with workers in Bangladesh. Please join other GSOC/UAW grad students from NYU for a couple hours next Saturday.
After the tragic deaths of over 1,200 workers in Bangladesh factory fires and building collapses, U.S. retailers must take responsibility for the conditions at factories that produce their clothing. A groundbreaking agreement, the “Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh”, will take meaningful steps towards this goal. While more than 40 companies have signed on, many U.S. companies – most notably, the Gap and Walmart – won’t sign. Join the UAW, the Student Labor Action Movement at NYU, and other coalition partners in telling Gap, Walmart, Banana Republic, North Face, Timberland, American Eagle, Target, Sears, Old Navy:
“STOP THE BLOODSHED. Sign the Accord.”
