GSOC-UAW

GSOC Week of Action! March 26-30 plus Rally, March 29 at Bobst: BE THERE!

We have had a busy couple of weeks: last week, our combined action on Twitter and Facebook brought pressure to the NLRB to rule on our case now–and, this past Wednesday, we sent 201 signed letters from NYU graduate employees to the NLRB urging them to rule on our case immediately.
Let’s keep up the pressure on NYU and the NLRB. It’s been 22 MONTHS OF WAITING to vote for our union – let’s make a fuss (again).

Next week, the week of March 26th, will be a GSOC-UAW week of on the ground organizing and action, culminating in a rally in front of Bobst on Thursday, March 29th at 3:00 PM, where we make it clear that we can name at least 22 ISSUES WE COULD HAVE BARGAINED OVER.

WHAT: 22 MONTHS OF WAITING, 22 ISSUES WE COULD HAVE BARGAINED OVER: Still No Contract, Still No Union

WHEN: Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM

WHERE: Bobst Library, 70 Washington Square South

During the week, we’ll organize fellow graduate employees who may not have heard about GSOC-UAW from one of their colleagues, answer questions they may have, and firm up their support. In addition, we’ll do massive turnout for Thursday’s rally and get commitments from GSOCers to come out for the action.

This is our end-of-the-semester-last-chance-push to get a decision from the NLRB.

SO LET’S DO THIS:

1. Sign up to organize by replying to this email!
2. Volunteer, also by replying to this email, to speak at the rally about one of the 22 issues we could have bargained over, including health care for spouses and children, work load, pay raises, academic freedom, summer work/funding, compensation for canceled classes, and much, much more.
3. Come to the CREATIVE PROP-A-THON PARTY (We’ll meet in SCA or MCC onWEDNESDAY, 3/28 around 6 — details coming soon)
4. Tell your friends about the rally
5. Print out this flyer and make sure everyone in your department sees it.
6. Go to the Facebook page, Join, and Share with EVERYONE YOU CAN: https://www.facebook.com/events/304639619603138/#!/events/304639619603138/
