GSOC-UAW

This is huge: Union election set for December 10 &11!

After an 8-year struggle, we have reached an unprecedented agreement with NYU’s Administration to vote on December 10th and 11th to win back our Union! Today, GSOC/UAW and SET/UAW signed an agreement that puts us in position to start bargaining very soon and work toward having a new contract by the end of the academic year.

20131126agreementsigningVoting “Yes” will give us a voice in critical decisions about our pay, benefits, and working conditions and will help make NYU a better, more accessible institution.  In forging this agreement, the administration recognizes that the improvements we won under our first contract, such as a 38% stipend increase and fully-paid health care premiums, made NYU a better university.

In a joint statement, our Union and NYU concur: “We are confident this agreement…will improve the graduate student experience, and will sustain and enhance NYU’s academic competitiveness. When NYU and the UAW negotiated an historic first contract that lasted from 2002 to 2005, we achieved these goals.”

You can read a statement about this historic agreement signed by more than 120 graduate employees and activists from all the major departments at NYU and NYU-Poly here. Eligible voters will receive more information very soon regarding the details of voting days, times and locations.
