GSOC Makes History Again! Contract Overwhelmingly Ratified!

Downloadable version of contract can be found here. See below for embedded PDF

18 years after a majority of NYU graduate employees first organized as GSOC-UAW, 13 years after we ratified our first contract, 10 years after NYU stripped recognition of our Union and refused to negotiate a second contract, 9 years after our historic eight-month strike and our resolve to never stop organizing, a year and a half after our landslide 630-10 vote re-establishing GSOC-UAW as our Union, and four months after our overwhelming majority strike vote last fall:

GSOCers HAVE RATIFIED OUR CONTRACT BY A VOTE OF 977-9! ONCE AGAIN, WE ARE THE 99%! Thank you to everyone who voted and helped get out the vote in your departments. You brought this historic campaign to another milestone.

Stay tuned for follow-up on retroactive lump-sum payments under the contract, new benefits, and future developments in the growth of our unit within UAW Local 2110, including ongoing discussions about bylaws and steward elections. GSOC-UAW is now the first, second, and only union of graduate student employees at a private US university to win a legally binding contract.

Congratulations.
